September 2018 - New procedures to support Low Risk Research

New procedures to support Low Risk Research (from 1 September 2018)

  • The Eye and Ear encourages Eye and Ear staff to conduct research projects from surveys to clinical research through to clinical trials (commercially sponsored and investigator-initiated).
  • All research projects involving humans (including use of data for research) must have research ethics approval and research governance authorisation.
  • To support low risk research activity, the Research Office has implemented a new Low Risk Research procedure, including a Low Risk Research Application Form (online via ERM), review by a Low Risk Research Subcommittee of the HREC, review out of session at any time of the year and a response usually within 2 weeks.
  • The aim is to facilitate high-quality, low risk research.
