January 2018 - Mandate for GCP training extended

November 20, 2017

From 1 January 2018, the requirement for Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training is being extended to all Principal Investigators (PIs).

The requirement will apply to PIs on new clinical research projects which are approved from 1 January, except those in the retrospective review stream.

The GCP training must be TransCelerate approved. TransCelerate approved training is universally accepted and covers all the principles of GCP. Courses can be delivered face-to-face or online and have a three year expiry.

If you have successfully completed a GCP TransCelerate approved training course in the past three years (this will be included on the training certificate), please send a copy to the Research Office at

Ideally all clinical researchers should undertake GCP training. Therefore, please encourage researchers involved in your projects to attend a training course at the earliest opportunity.

If you need to attend a course, please visit the TransCelerate website for approved courses.

If you have any questions relating to GCP training, please email the Research Office at
