Temporary closure of Gisborne Street entrance

July 9, 2014

The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital’s redevelopment project is in full swing.

To progress works, the builders require full access to the ground floor foyer of the Peter Howson Wing for 19 consecutive days.

As a result of these works, the Gisborne Street entrance and the Acute Ophthalmology Service (AOS) waiting area will be temporarily closed.

As of close of business Friday 11 July, there will be no access via the Gisborne Street entrance, the main entrance to the hospital will be via Morrison Place and access to the AOS area will be via the Emergency Department.

Access to drop-off areas in Morrison Place is limited, so you are encouraged to take public transport, or use the Wilson Parking facilities in Albert Street or Victoria Parade.

Hoardings, directional signage and volunteers will be available to redirect patients and visitors.

If you have an appointment, you are encouraged not to attend the hospital until 10 minutes before your appointment time. This will help to reduce the amount of congestion within the building and to make your experience more comfortable.

For more information, you can visit the redevelopment section of the website where you will find a list of frequently asked questions.
