Ward 4 Registered Nurse, Damien Curran was the recipient of the most recent I See You, I Hear You – Values in Action staff award.

“It was so encouraging getting the award — to receive recognition is something we all strive for in our work, even though we may not always say so,” Damien says.

“I came into nursing partially because of my need to have that personal interaction which I get from my dealings with patients and their relatives and carers and that hasn’t changed. Treating all people with the same respect and care is integral to what I do as a nurse and as a human being.

“I also feel really lucky to work with a team that shares similar values and to work for an organisation that makes these very values such an important part of its vision.”

Damien started at the Eye and Ear as an agency nurse after doing a stint in Mildura, when he returned from teaching English in Cambodia. He has been working at the Eye and Ear for over two years.
