Volunteer profile: Michael

March 15, 2018

Michael Radulovic joined the Eye and Ear team as a volunteer having been a patient at the hospital.

Michael had a stroke in 2016 and temporarily lost his sight. He came to the Eye and Ear for his eyes to be assessed and also for cataract surgery.

Michael helps at the information desk at Eye and Ear on the Park, where he used to visit as an outpatient: “The stroke affected my short-term memory so being in a familiar environment has really helped.

“Having been in their shoes, I can identify with patients and put them at ease by sharing my experience.”

Michael says that volunteering has aided his recovery and helped to rebuild his confidence so that he can gradually return to work in Financial Services.
