New CEO for The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital

Brendon Gardner has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

 

Brendon has had a career in Health Service Management for 22 years, holding Executive positions for the past 12 years. His most recent position has been as Executive Director, Operations (Chief Operating Officer) at Peninsula Health where has been working for over 22 years. 

 

Over the years Brendon’s roles at Peninsula Health have included Network Manager of Health Information Services, Director of Information Management, Executive Director of Planning and Infrastructure, Executive Director of Frankston Hospital and lastly Executive Director of Operations. He has played a key role in many of the major development and improvement projects that have shaped the health service.

 

Announcing the appointment Eye and Ear Board Chair Sherene Devanesen said that Brendon had a proven record in delivering patient focussed services and in actively promoting consumer and volunteer engagement. 

 

“Brendon’s reflective, collaborative style, coupled with strong interpersonal skills has enabled the establishment of good stakeholder relationships, both internally and externally, resulting in the delivery of effective and efficient services,” she said.

 

Brendon has been a senior lecturer at Monash University and has a co-authored publications on case-mix funding, clinical costing and the use of data to enhance the management of services. He is also an assessor with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards.

 

Staff and volunteers look forward to welcoming Brendon when he commences his role on 16 September 2019.
