Graduate Nursing Program 2019- Apply Now!

Applications for the Graduate Nursing Program 2019 Open Soon.

So what’s it all about?

Sarah Kerle graduated from Central Queensland University with a Bachelor of Nursing. At the start of her  final year she began looking around for a graduate program when the Eye and Ear grabbed her attention.  “There’s not many hospitals out there which let you experience the whole hospital” she says. “Because I haven’t figured out which area of nursing is for me yet, going into a program where you get to “dip your toes” into so many areas really appealed to me”.

“My program involves 6 months in theatre and 6 months rotating through the wards, specialty clinics, day surgery and the emergency department. I wasn’t expecting that it would be 6 months in theatre, but was super excited when I found out. I was also excited to find out that my first rotation was in theatre, however my last rotation is in the emergency department which I am happy about too.” Austin

What does a typical day look like?

This changes as you rotate through the different placements as the requirements of each area of the hospital are different.

Sarah’s currently working in anaesthetics and recovery. “A typical day begins with setting up the theatre, getting everything ready for the anaesthetist and checking in the patients. I then assist the anaesthetist in getting the patient to sleep and ensuring they have everything they need.” Later on, she helps the patients recover from the anaesthetic.
