Eye and Ear excellence awards

November 24, 2017

Eye and Ear staff were recognised in the 2017 TREVERs award ceremony last night, which was attended by over 200 staff and guests. Just as the OSCARs is the award ceremony for the Hollywood Academy Awards, the TREVERs is our night of nights to present our prestigious excellence awards.

The awards celebrate our people who inspire others and have contributed to achieving organisational excellence, and this year it was a combined event with the staff long service awards.

Eye and Ear CEO Mark Petty said “Our staff don’t do what they do for reward and recognition; we do it to care for our patients. Losing your sight or hearing can be incredibly scary, and I’m proud of the significant contribution each of our people make to our patients’ lives.

The five excellence award categories acknowledge creative and original thinking that results in positive outcomes for our patients, an improved working environment or improved hospital systems.

Congratulations to all the very deserving winner of the Excellence Awards:

  • Board Chair’s Medal – Jim Gonis, Security
  • Dr J Aubrey Bowen Medal – Ms Anne Cass
  • Nursing Excellence – Deb Digman and Ivy Tamparong, Emergency Department
  • Allied Health Excellence – Hamish McCracken, Pharmacy
  • Administrative/Clerical/Support Services Excellence – Clinical Improvement Team

Congratulations also to the staff celebrating 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 or 40 years of service with the Eye and Ear who were presented with certificates on the night.

This included Anne Chow, Angela Wai Ng, Susan Royston and Trevor Williams who were acknowledged for their 40 years’ service at the hospital and Dr Peter Ashton, Dr Richard Stawell, Julie Tyers and Dr Faye Walker who were recognised for the 35 years they’ve worked at the Eye and Ear.
