An exhibition of early instruments, images and other gems from the hospital's 150 year history is now open.

The commemorative display cases, located near the Level 1 outpatients clinic in the Smorgon Family Wing, include surgical instruments and clinical equipment dating back to the Eye and Ear's earliest years.

Curator of the joint Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and Eye and Ear museum, Dr David Kaufman collected and categorised the ophthalmological items and Professor Brian Pyman coordinated the display of ENT instruments, as part of an ongoing project to preserve the hospital's rich history.

Posters featuring two prominent past Eye and Ear staff members, Bill Gillies and Ronald Lowe are also on display in the hospital.

The exhibition will remain open throughout 2013 as part of the Eye and Ear’s 150th birthday celebrations.
