Banner reveal launches 150th festivities

January 11, 2013

A 150th anniversary commemorative banner was unveiled to an audience of commuters and staff on Victoria Parade today, as the Eye and Ear begins a year of festivities honouring its standing as the third oldest hospital in Melbourne.

The installation of the twenty metre high banner, situated near the hospital's emergency entrance on Morrison Place, is the first event in a busy calendar set to mark the milestone anniversary.

A series of public lectures will also launch shortly, with bionic eye surgeon Dr Penny Allen to host the first in the series at The Edge, Federation Square on March 12.

Registration is now open for Dr Allen’s presentation, exploring the future of the bionic eye. It is also possible to register for lectures to be held in June and July, please monitor the website for further series updates.
