Inaugural community board meeting
The first annual Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital Community Board Meeting was held with great success in November, with senior hospital staff, key research partners and community members in attendance.

The meeting, open to all members of the public, is a Victorian Government initiative to ensure greater community participation in public services.

Addressing the meeting, Minister for Health David Davis reiterated the importance of community involvement to the hospital's growth.

“Community input is critical to the design and planning of the hospital's redevelopment. This will be a great and historic outcome for the hospital and the people of Victoria, Mr Davis said.

Chief Executive Officer, Ann Clark says the hospital has always welcomed the input of the public and these meeting represent another excellent opportunity for community participation.

“One of the best ways for us to meet increasing demand while improving or standards of care is to ask the very people who are using those services how we are going and where there is room for improvement.

“This forum is all about fostering a sense of connection between all of those who work within the hospital walls and the wider community, Ms Clark said.

The Eye and Ear is currently seeking expressions of interest for our Consumer Register, which enables members of the public to share opinions, views and comments on hospital matters.
