Riding for the kids!

On Friday 30 March, the first convoy of riders and support crew departed for Billabong Ranch to kick start the 2012 Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay.

Starting in Echuca on Saturday 31 March and finishing in Port Fairy on Sunday 1 April, the Murray to Moyne Relay was in its 26th year and raises funds for hospitals and health services throughout Victoria.

The Eye and Ear team was made up of 15 riders and eight support crew and they rode a course of 520km.

The first convoy of riders started the relay at 9.30am, led by Infection Control Consultant, Paul Simpson and ED Nurse, Sue McCarthy. The team rode 436km relay style, arriving in Hamilton at 2.10am.

Paul said, “It really was a fantastic team effort and it was great to have people from all across the hospital come together raise money for this good cause.

Some individuals personally rode well over 300km and early counting indicates over $15,000 raised for children’s services at the hospital.

The ride would not have been possible without the generous support of champion sponsor, Waterman AHW who committed $5,000. David Worland from Waterman was warmly welcomed by the team to join the ride.
Thanks also to Advantage Salary Packaging and Compass Group who each donated $2,500 and Alcon Labs, Cerner, Hesta Super Fund and Officemax for their support.

Congratulations to the 2012 Eye and Ear Murray to Moyne Team!
