As a world leader of eye, ear, nose and throat research and teaching, we are committed to conducting our research honesty and accurately and at the highest professional standards. Research Governance is a framework that ensures accountability for the scientific quality, ethical acceptability and safety of research sponsored or approved by the hospital. This framework ensures that all research conforms to national standards as set out in:
- NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007);
- The Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2007);
- Clinical Trials – Risk and Insurance Guide.
To support these standards, the hospital reviews and monitors research and allocates funding via the Research Committee (and sub-committees) which report to the Eye and Ear Hospital Board and/or the hospital CEO, and administered with assistance from the Research office.
Within the hospital, research is governed by the Research Policy which requires that all research conform to good practice and ethical expectations to ensure that is it conducted and disseminated honestly, accurately and in accordance with the highest professional standards.
