Research Committee

The Research Committee oversees strategic and operational responsibility related to the conduct of research, including receiving and administering grants funded by the hospital; overseeing the recruitment and appointment for the Wagstaff Fellowships and oversight of the Small Grants Committee. A Sub-Committee of the Research Committee is the Small Grants Committee, which meets to assess applications for small grants. Further details and the rules for applying for a grant are available to dowload.

The next round of small grants for the 2012/13 financial year is now open for applications. Please read the rules/conditions as stated in the Small Research Grants Funding Rules and Guide to Applicants prior to submitting an application. Applications close 2 April 2012. The purpose of these grants is as follows:

  • To encourage and support individuals or departments within the Eye and Ear who have not previously been involved in major research activities to undertake clinical or scientific research; or
  • To assist individuals to initiate research studies or complete research projects which form part of higher qualification requirements –these awards are not intended to fund the research programs of full time PhD students; and
  • To fund a study that is complete in itself and not merely part of a major study.
