Junior Medical Staff
Fellowship applications for 2012 are now closed. 2013 fellowships will be advertised in May 2012. Fellowship applicants should note that Australian medical registration requires strong English language skills. Overseas-trained doctors, including those educated in English-speaking countries, must include in their application either:
- a sufficient English language test result (IELTS, OET, PLAB or NZREX) dated no earlier than January 2011; OR
- adequate evidence of exemption from the English language test requirement. Note that if you are claiming exemption based on your secondary education and medical training being conducted IN ENGLISH in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, UK or USA (Exemption Clause 1a & b of the policy), then you must provide a letter from your secondary school and University on official letterhead stating that the language of instruction was English. Note that Exemption Clause 2 will not apply to The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital fellows.
For information on minimum English language test results and exemptions, please refer to the English Language Skills Registration Standard or visit the Medical Board of Australia.
