RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication or Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary.
RSS allows Internet Users to receive a list of news and headlines of interest from web sites without having to repeatedly visit each one to obtain the information. The list is called a RSS feed and is collected and displayed by a RSS Reader.

What is a RSS Reader?

An RSS reader is a program which collects and displays your RSS feeds in the one location. There are several kinds of RSS Readers available. Some are available through web sites like Bloglines, Yahoo and MSN. Others are stand alone programs which you can download. For a comprehensive list of readers please browse here: http://www.dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Internet/Clients/WWW/Feed_Readers/.
