NEW ELECTRONIC RESOURCES PORTAL: MY E-RESOURCES

The library continually strives to provide cost-effective, user-friendly and easy access to electronic information resources. The library's new My E-RESOURCES portal went live on July 1st 2010, replacing the current electronic resources portal which will be decommissioned from the 13th of August 2010. The MY E-RESOURCES portal includes the library’s local holdings as well as the Clinicians Health Channel  e-resources “provided by the Victorian Government’s Department of Health for health professionals employed in a public health sector or work in an agency primarily funded by the Department of Health, Victoria” (CHC website).

FOR RVEEH EMPLOYEES :

Will I still use my current username & password?

No. RVEEH employees will need to register for their Athens login for offsite access and onsite access to some CHC resources.

A number of CHC resources can be accessed onsite, on the RVEEH network, without authenticating, as these are be IP-validated. However, a few CHC resources will still require Athens authentication, onsite. This is due to technical issues with the provider of the resource. Please register for your Athens login if you have not already done so.

**Please note that if you have already registered for your Athens login for the Clinicians Health Channel, you need not do anything, as you will use the SAME login for the new portal (MY E-RESOURCES).

ALL offsite usage will require authentication as outlined below:

* Use your Athens login. If you have not registered, please do so via this link (from the library homepage):
https://register.athensams.net/chc/

NOTE: If you are filling out the Athens registration form offsite (outside of the RVEEH networK), you will need to type in your Eye & Ear Hospital email address NOT your personal email address (hotmail, yahoo, etc.).

If you currently do not have an Eye & Ear Hospital email address, you will need to fill out the Athens Registration form within RVEEH (network) or in the library. In this instance, you may type in your personal email address.

Need Help? Please contact the library.

FOR RANZCO (non RVEEH):

RANZCO Fellows & trainees (non-RVEEH) will transition to the new My E-RESOURCES portal on Friday the 13th of August, 2010. The old portal that uses the generic login will be decommissioned on Monday the 16th of August, 2010.

Please note that the new MY E-RESOURCES portal will require you to use your library barcode which is on your library card sent to you in August last year and your MY LIBRARY PIN, also sent to you last year, or when you recently registered for library membership. If you do not have either, please contact the library (library@eyeandear.org.au) and we will send you out a new library card with your PIN which you can then change. You will normally use your MY LIBRARY username and PIN to login to your My Library account on the library catalogue to renew your library books, check your borrowing history, reserve library items, etc. You will now use the SAME login details, with a slight change to the barcode, to access your electronic journals through the new

MY E-RESOURCES portal on the library homepage.

Therefore your new My E-RESOURCES portal username would be your library barcode with the prefix"vic". It does not matter which State you are in, the prefix will still be "vic".

e.g.Username:vicB0015760
                           Password: efr67g (My Library PIN)

What is my Athens Login?

Ans. In the MY E-RESOURCES portal, some publisher websites may prompt you to enter your ATHENS login. Please note that your Athens login is the same as your MY E-RESOURCES login above (e.g. vicB000...).

***Please request your MY LIBRARY log-in details if you have not already done so.
