Retinitis Pigmentosa is a disease which results in the gradual
loss of vision. It is caused by the degeneration of the retina,
which is the specialized lining at the back of the eye which receives
light impulses. It is an inherited disease which means that a person is born with
the condition. They do not 'catch' the disease. Symptoms usually begin during teenage years. A person with RP may
experience difficulty seeing at night as well as tunnel vision.
