Cultural Diversity Week
Cultural Diversity Week is an initiative of the Victorian Multicultural Commission and is held annually during the week of 17-23 March. It provides an opportunity for all Victorians to celebrate our cultural, linguistic and religious diversity. The theme for the week in 2008 was Live, Work, Prosper Together!
In 2008 the Eye and Ear marked the week by signing the Community Accord on Wednesday 19 March. The Community Accord provides a set of statements that reflect the values, principles and sentiments of our multicultural society. By signing the accord, the Hospital affirmed and demonstrated our commitment to the principles of the Accord. More then 70 people attended the event including the Chair of the Victorian Multicultural Commission, George Lekakis, the Italian Consul General, Francesco De Conno, members of the Hospital’s Board of Directors, community leaders of cultural groups, health services and members of the Hospital’s staff.
